The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch the State-of-the-Art Satellite NISAR in a joint venture with NASA in the first quarter of next year. At the meeting with Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, Nelson interacted on increasing mutual cooperation between the two countries in the space sector. The statement issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology in this regard stated, “Gaganyaan’s module is considering the possibility of using NASA’s Hypervioleocity Impact Test (HVIT) for testing the Micromotioroid and Orbital Deburries Protection Shields.”
During this meeting, US President Joe Biden’s offer to send an Indian Astronaut to the International Space Station next year was also discussed. Nelson told reporters, “This astronaut will be selected by ISRO.” He has also requested Singh to increase the pace of the plan to send the country’s first Astronaut to the International Space Station on the NASA rocket.
The possibility of private astronaut mission for Indian astronauts is also being considered by NASA. Nelson said in response to a question that the US is ready to help in building a space station if India wants. “I think India wants to build a commercial space station by 2040. If India wants collaboration with us, we are definitely available. However, it is up to India.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked ISRO to target the creation of Indian space stations by 2035 and landing Astronauts on the moon by 2040. The Nasa-Isro Artificial Aperture Radar (NISAR) is built at a cost of about $ 1,5 billion. It will be launched next year from the country’s GSLV rocket.
