According to the report of the Market Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the shipments of smartphone companies in January have been around 1.11 million units. It has recorded a decrease of about 9.7 percent as compared to the same month of the previous year. The smartphone market has also declined in the fourth quarter of last year. However, there has been a four percent increase in smartphone shipments last year.
South Korea’s smartphone maker Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series in January. Along with this, the company also started selling some smartphones in mid-range. Despite this, the consumer demand was weak and the shipments of smartphone companies were not high due to survival last year’s inventory. Shipments for Samsung in January have been about 19.5 percent less on a year-by-year basis. However, the company’s Galaxy S25 series sales were started in February.
Shipments for Apple in January have increased by about 11.7 percent on a year-by-year basis. Recently, Apple’s affordable iPhone 16E was started in the country from Friday. The company’s A18 chipset has been given in this smartphone. The iPhone 16E has a 48 -megapixel single rear camera. Its front has a 12 -megapixel truedepth camera for selfie and video calls. It has a 6.1 -inch Super Retina XDR (1,170×2,532 pixels) OLED display with a refresh rate of 60 HZ and peak brightness level of 800 notes. The price of 128 GB variants of this smartphone is Rs 59,900, Rs 256 GB Rs 69,900 and 512 GB variants Rs 89,900. Chinese smartphone maker Vivo shipments have decreased by 8.1 percent and Realme’s shipments by about 5.3 percent. Despite the decline in shipments, Vivo has retained the first place in the country’s smartphone market. This is followed by Samsung, Oppo, Apple and Realme.
