Quick Verdict / At a Glance
- Platform: Prime Video (streaming from 23 Oct 2026)
- Format: 8-episode Hindi crime drama series
- Setting: Early-2000s Mumbai
- Cast: Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub, Prayrak Mehta
- DekhoOnly Verdict: 8/10 — trailer-verdict; the premise is a binge magnet for crime-drama fans
The Story: Dosti vs Duniya
Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer are four ordinary boys from middle-class Mumbai homes. Their plan is simple — thoda paisa, thodi izzat, apne dum par. But the city they live in has its own rules, and one wrong turn lands them in the underworld’s crosshairs. What follows is a chase where police sirens get closer, loyalties get tested, and the only thing protecting these four friends is — the friendship itself.
The early-2000s setting is a smart choice. Mobile phones barely existed, the underworld was a different beast, and Mumbai itself looked and felt rawer. That period texture gives the series a flavour that separates it from every other urban crime show on the platform.
The Cast: Four Fresh Faces
Instead of casting big names, the makers have gone with a genuinely fresh ensemble:
- Purav Jha
- Naman Jain
- Saqib Ayub
- Prayrak Mehta
New faces mean no expectations — you watch the characters, not the stars. And in a story this raw, that honesty matters. The four boys feel like people you could have grown up with, which makes every bad decision hurt a little more. The platform’s growing originals slate is documented on Prime Video’s Wikipedia page.
8 Episodes, One Binge
Eight episodes is the sweet spot — long enough for the friendship to breathe, short enough to finish over the weekend. As a binge, the chaar yaar web series is built for speed: eight episodes, no filler, one friendship on the line. The arc is classic but effective: struggle, temptation, the fall, and the cost. If you liked the earthy, coming-of-age-under-pressure vibe of the best Indian crime dramas on Prime Video, this one belongs on your list — DekhoOnly’s Web Series section tracks every such drop.
Why It Works For The Weekend
Weekend streaming is about momentum, and Chaar Yaar has three things going for it. First, it is new — dropping on 23 October 2026, the same day half the country starts its weekend binge. Second, it is compact — 8 episodes, no filler seasons to commit to. Third, it speaks Hindi-India — the friendships, the families, the mohalla pressure; you will recognise these lives.
Crime dramas live or die on their moral weight, and this one’s hook is the right one: when survival asks you to betray your best friend, what do you choose? DekhoOnly has covered the platform’s biggest Hindi line-ups in the best Hindi web series on JioHotstar guide — but if you want something brand-new, fresh faces and a one-weekend finish, Chaar Yaar is the pick.
