Zomato Platform Charges Hike 67% Customers Categorical Infuriate on Social Media Corporate Responds Heres All Main points

Zomato has increased its platform fees by more than 60 percent amid the festive season. Let us tell you that for some time, India’s largest online food delivery company was charging a platform fee of Rs 6 on every order. This decision was already facing criticism from the users and now the company has decided to increase this fee. After the increase in fees, users took to social media to vent their anger. At the same time, the founder and CEO of Zomato has also reacted to this decision.

Zomato has increased its platform fees from Rs 6 to Rs 10 per order, a hike of about 67%. This is not the first increase in platform fees, as the fees were increased from Rs 5 per order to Rs 6 per order only about three months ago. Till the time of writing the news, it was not clear whether the platform fees have been increased in all cities or in selected areas.

After this hike in Zomato’s platform fees, users are venting their anger on social media. One user wrote, “#Zomato increased platform fees to ₹10. They are clearly taking advantage of the festive rush. They started this nonsense at ₹2 PO. And now they are handling over 20 lakh orders per day.” Let’s collect the cash.”

Another user wrote, “#Zomato has increased the platform fee by Rs 10 for the festive season. Here’s the justification “You are now addicted so it is our duty to take full advantage of it now. Keep eating and keep pressing the buttons on the app. Our next venture is on health care.” Another user writes, “Zomato’s increasing platform fees is faster than Usain Bolt.”

Zomato on Wednesday told customers through a notification in the app that the increased fees helps the platform pay its bills. “This has been increased slightly to maintain services during the festival rush.”

Let us tell you that in the March-quarter shareholders’ letter, Zomato had also cited platform fees as one of the main reasons for improving its margins.
