X Twitter Prohibited over 3 Lakh Accounts in Republic of India Heres Reason whose in the back of it

Elon Musk’s social media platform X (famous as the first Twitter) has banned a large number of accounts in India. This is not the first time the platform has taken such a step. Even before this, millions of accounts from X have been banned. One of the several reasons for the accounting being banned is a violation of the policies of X, as these accounts are reportedly involved in works such as child abuse and promotion of non-consciousness nudity.

According to Toi, X has banned 3,33,036 accounts between 26 October and 25 November. The newly appointed CEO Linda Yacarino had banned 2,233 accounts by the time of writing the news this month. The account behind the account being banned is a violation of the policy, which is related to child sexual abuse and promoting non-consciousness nudity. In addition, 2,233 accounts were banned due to involvement in promoting terrorism in India, which banned a total of 3,35,269 accounts during the reported period.

The report states that this comprehensive restriction is in line with the compliance of X with the new IT Rule 2021. Under these rules, major digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users need to publish a monthly compliance report. In compliance with this, X released a monthly report, disclosing a total of 1,062 complaints from users in India during the specified time limit. Of these, 52 complaints were related to the appellate account suspension. The company removed the ban from only 1 account after the review, while the remaining would remain suspended.

The X report reportedly highlights that most of the complaints from India focus on disgusting conduct (556), followed by abuse/oppression (273), sensitive adult content (122) and copying (52). This account ban wave is not the first incident. For example, between 26 August to 25 September, 557,764 accounts were banned to promote terrorism, while 1,675 were removed. In the next month, from 26 September to 25 October, 234,584 accounts in India were banned and 2,755 were lifted to promote terrorism.
