Just like Sandes (which can be read in Hindi like a message), the app claims that the app end-to-end and encrypted. Applications can be used to send messages and receive or share media files to contacts. There is also a feature of contact sharing and group chat. Apart from this, users can also broadcast messages. Sources in the government have also confirmed NDTV that the government is also working on an app named Samvad (which means conversation). A MITY official told NDTV that “these apps are being fully developed by the Government of India. It will be an instant messaging app like WhatsApp.”
Obtain Sandes App
The Sandes app can be downloaded through the GIMS portal. It will run on Android 5.0 and subsequent versions. The app for iOS users is available on app bind and iOS supports 12.0 and above.
To use you have to use a mobile number or email ID. The application is sent to you a six -digit OTP for verification. Email ID is limited to government ID only – if you signed up with a Gmail, Hotmail or other email account, you will see a notice, according to which you cannot use these domain emails. Even government accounts such as @mygov.in’s account are not accepted. Only official @gov.in email can be used in the app. If you do not have an email ID of this domain, you can use your mobile number.
