The feature tracker Wabetainfo has seen a new feature on WhatsApp beta for Android, under which unknown sender messages can be blocked. This feature will have to be enabled from inside the settings. According to the tracker, the feature has been seen on the WhatsApp beta 2.24.17.24 version. According to the shared screenshot, the feature will be introduced as ‘Restrain Unknown Account Messages’. It has a toggle button, which seems to be kept off as default and users will be able to enable it through settings.
It is written in the description of this feature, (translated) “To protect your account and to improve the device performance, WhatsApp will block the message coming from unknown account if they cross a certain volume.”
The condition of a fixed volume appears that it will block the sender only when they send more than a certain number of messages instead of blocking all messages of an unknown account. This can be for spammers, who send a large number of promotional messages. The report does not provide any information on whether it will also work on the sanders whose requests have been accepted or not.
Separate from this, tell people in Delhi to now send criminal challans on WhatsApp. Delhi governor VK Saxena has also ordered to start the process soon, after which traffic challans will be sent to WhatsApp. In addition, WhatsApp has introduced a new facility for those traveling by metro in Delhi and NCR. In the latest feature, WhatsApp users can now recharge their smart card issued by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) through a dedicated chatbot on instant messaging platform. Apart from the top-up service, it also provides other service such as buying tickets, watching previous transactions and contact with customer aid.
