WhatsApp has informed in its blog that the company’s instant messaging app will stop walking on the OS 5.0 and before that. At present, the app supports Android 4.1 and new versions from it, but the support for the device running on the old version from October 24 will be stopped. There are still many smartphone devices in the market, which are working on the OS version from Android 5.0. Some of these are popular models Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Want HD, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc3.
If you also want to check the Android version of your phone, then you can check your operating system by tapping on ‘About Telephone’ inside the ‘Settings’ app.
If you are running Apple’s device, then let us tell you that currently the iPhone iOS 12 and new version is also getting WhatsApp support. Support is also going on on JioPhone and JioPhone 2 with Kaios 2.5.0 and after OS versions.
Separate from this, let us know that a completely new channel feature has been added recently on WhatsApp. It allows the user to follow a celebrity or community or group, so that all the updates related to them can be obtained. Users can follow channels related to news, cinema, sports, entertainment, technology etc. It is largely like following people on X, Instagram or FB. META has launched this feature in more than 150 countries of the world. It also includes India.
