Whatsapp to Delhi HC Will Cancel Functioning If Made to Crack Encryption

Whatsapp: Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has spoken a lot in Delhi High Court. According to a news agency report, WhatsApp has said in the High Court that if she is forced to remove the encryption, she would stop her functioning i.e. she would leave India. The whole matter is related to the new IT rules. WhatsApp and Facebook have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against these rules. Meta owned WhatsApp says that the removal of encryption may threaten users’ privacy.

According to the report, the case was heard by Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora. On behalf of WhatsApp, it was argued in the court that the privacy of users is weakened by the new IT Rules 2021 and it is also against the fundamental rights of the people.

WhatsApp also argued that there is never a rule in the world in which encryption should be forced to remove. WhatsApp said the new rule was introduced without his advice.

In fact, under the new IT rule, social media platforms and messaging platforms can be asked to trace users’ chat and identify the first sender of a message. If WhatsApp had to do this, he will have to trace all the messages of all the people and save it, which is opposite to the policy of the company.

The messaging system of WhatsApp works on end-to-end encryption. Under this, a message is limited between its sender and the receiver. WhatsApp itself also does not touch the message, that is, what message someone is writing, WhatsApp is not monitored and all messages are safe from end-to-end encryption. No one else can read them.

However, the central government has already argued in the court that WhatsApp and Facebook cannot legally claim to protect the privacy of users, as they monties the information of people for their business and business benefits.
