Whatsapp is allegedly launching a new privacy feature for the members of the community. It was earlier said that a new feature test is being done, which will allow users to hide their phone number while joining a community. The feature named “phone number privacy” is reportedly available for all Android and iOS beta testers. With this, users can participate in the conversation by hiding their name and phone number from other members of the community and give their reaction to the message. Meta -owned instant messaging app has not officially disclosed when it wants to live the phone number privacy feature for all users.

According to a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has released a phone number privacy feature for all Android and iOS beta testers. It is being said that it is available for all Android and iOS beta testers on Android, which is available on WhatsApp Beta version 2.23.14.19 and Beta version for iOS 23.14.0.70.

With the help of this feature, the user’s phone number can be hidden from all other members while connecting with a community. Currently, the list of community members is already hidden in the ‘Community Announcement Group Info’, but if a user is involved in the conversation through reaction, his phone number appears. The new phone number privacy feature will ensure that the contact number of the user is not visible to other members of the community while adding a reaction to a message.

The report also includes a screenshot showing the phone number privacy feature for the community, making users know what it can look when it starts widely. It can be accessed with ‘Community Announcement Group Info’. While turning on this feature, WhatsApp alerts the users that their number will be hidden from the participants except the community administrator and the members who already save their contact numbers. This new privacy feature is applicable only to the members of the community, as the phone number of the community admin always appears. Users will also have the option to share it with specific community members as per priority.

However, WhatsApp has not yet officially announced the rollout of the phone number privacy feature. It may change before the final release. If you want to try the new security feature, you can download the latest build of WhatsApp from Google Play Games, Apple Bundle and Testflight app.
