The updated interface changes the way to show the status updates. The new design is easier to move away from the previous horizontal layout and profile photo identification. Now users can submit the status update directly from the status update tray on the top of the update tab through the thumbnail preview of the first shared status. It offers a quick view on content without opening the status update every time.
This redesign update has come after users’ response, which highlighted the lack of features in the previous layout. By presenting large thumbnails for the preview, WhatsApp wants to improve the browsing experience, which can easily decide which updates have to be seen completely. In addition, the channel affects the placement and visibility of the channel post inside the redesign update tab, which includes both status and channel updates. The new card-style format for the status update makes it better, this changes the way the channel update. The first target status update of these card-based preview is to provide easy selection and status view facility.
Currently it is in the redesign interface beta testing phase and is available for a select group of beta testers. How it will be in the stable version of WhatsApp will depend on the users’ response and new technology. WhatsApp is also working on other features such as synchronizing chat lock in all devices for better security and testing a file-sharing feature like Android’s quick share.
