Whatsapp Prohibited 29 Million Indian Accounts in January to Battle Destructive Institutes

Messaging service WhatsApp has reported that it has banned more than 29 lakh accounts in India in January. WhatsApp said that in addition to responding to users’ complaints and taking action on them, WhatsApp also uses tools and resources to prevent the behavior that damages its platforms.

A WhatsApp spokesperson said, “WhatsApp is ahead in preventing harassment in end-to-end-end messaging services. To keep users safe on our platforms, WhatsApp has made continuous investment in artificial intelligence and other technology, data scientists and experts.” WhatsApp received a total of 1,461 reports in January and 195 cases were selected for action. WhatsApp received 51 reports on account support, more than 1,300 reports on ban appeal. The spokesperson said, “Under IT Rules, we have published our report for January. This user safety report is aware of the complaints received by the users and the action taken on them. In January, WhatsApp has banned more than 29 lakh accounts.”

The company says that it especially emphasizes the prevention as it believes that it is better to hold it before the loss of loss activity occurs. At the end of the previous year, the data of millions of users of WhatsApp was stolen by hackers. These included users from 84 countries including India, USA, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Hackers tried to sell this data online.

Cybernews’s report stated that a hacking community forum has claimed to have sold mobile numbers of 48.7 crore WhatsApp users by advertising. This information is used in fishing attachments. Because of this, WhatsApp users should avoid calls and messages coming from unknown numbers. This is not the first time that data has been stolen from the platforms of META, which is owned by Facebook and WhatsApp. Last year, a hacker offered to give free information about more than 50 crore Facebook users. This included the phone number and other details of these users.
