WhatsApp head warns for all Android users

Whatsapp issued a strict warning to Android users asking to beware of the fake version of the instant messaging app. WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart has issued this warning through a tweet thread. In this, he said that the users who are using any modified version of the app may be in a big problem. WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging mobile applications, about two billion (200 million) active users. It is a popular platform for scammers, where they trap users through various techniques.

In his tweet, Will Cathcart said that the company’s security research team has received some fake apps, claiming to offer service like WhatsApp. He said in the tweet, “Recently our security team found hidden malware hidden in several apps of a developer named” Heymods “, which included” Hi there whatsapp “and others (apps).”

Cathcart further said, “These apps promised new features, but (these) people had just a scam to steal the store personal information. We have shared this information to Google and worked with them to deal with these apps.”

The fake versions of Whatsapp are not available on the Google Play Games Store, but users are lured to download these apps from informal sources.

WhatsApp head tweeted, “Google Play Protect on Android can now detect a fake version already downloaded by WhatsApp and (them) can disable (them). We appreciate Google’s help to prevent fake apps from spreading on Android devices.”

Meanwhile, a report said that the company has launched the beta version of the new Macos Whatsapp app on Catalyst technology. WABetaInfo’s report states that WhatsApp beta app for Macos looks quite different from the current design.
