According to the report by news agency Reuters, WhatsApp on Monday told It Minnancy that the company puts its users’ privacy at the top. Explain that the ministry had sent a letter to WhatsApp on 18 May, in which it asked the company’s latest privacy policy to withdraw. This policy came into force on 15 May. The ministry also said that the government can take legal action against the company.
According to the statement by the agency, WhatsApp says that the company has responded to the Government of India’s letter and assured them that the privacy of users is their highest priority. WhatsApp has also said that its update has not changed the privacy of private messages.
WhatsApp said earlier this year said that users would have to adopt all the conditions of this new policy by 8 February, but the new business policy of the company focusing on data-sharing was extended on this date due to criticisms by users at global level.
