Now WhatsApp users can block the message from an unknown number without opening it directly from the lock screen. In addition, similarly one can block any unknown call from the lock screen itself. That is, the user will not need to go to the app for this.
Given the rising scams, this is a good step, as it is often seen that in messaging apps like WhatsApp, users get upset with spam messages or calls many times and some messages also have such links, which are able to get the attackers full of smartphones on a click.
From now on, whenever users appear on a spam message notification lock screen, the user will have to press on that notification, which will show many types of options. One of these options will be of block. After blocking, the messaging app will also show a second prompt, asking to report the blocked sender.
