WhatsApp banned more than 20 lakh Indian accounts in December 2021!

Whatsapp banned more than 2 million Indian accounts in the last month of 2021 due to security reasons. Apart from this, 528 complaint reports have also been filed on the platform. The messaging playform has given this information in the latest Compliance File. WhatsApp removes accounts that are doubted from the platform from time to time. The company said in the report that most of the banned accounts were blocked for messaging.

WhatsApp issued the latest report that in December 2021 it banned 20 lakh 79 thousand accounts. The company says that out of the banned accounts, 95 percent of the accounts were banned for unnatural use of automated messaging or for bulk messaging or spam. Earlier, the company banned 17 lakh 50 thousand accounts in November and received 602 complaint reports.

The complaint reports received in December 2021 have been said that out of 528 reports, 149 accounts were about support, 303 reports were reported on ban appeal, 29 reports were received for other support and 32 reports for product support. 13 of these reports were also about safety.

The accounts received on which action is taken, shows WhatsApp “Accounts Actioned”. Taking action means that either that account is being banned or the banned account is being restored again.

The new IT rules in India were implemented in May last year. According to these rules, digital platforms with more than 5 million users will have to publish a compliance report every month. The complaints received in this report and all the action taken on them will have to be given.

WhatsApp had earlier emphasized that the platform is with the security of the End-to-Ed Encryption on the platform and the WhatsApp does not have the facility to see the content. To know the behavior of any account, WhatsApp has access to user reports, profile photos, group photos and descriptions. Apart from this, the company uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools so that the platform cannot be used in wrongdoing.
