According to the report, the action was taken in a month between 1 January 2022 to 31 January 2022. It is worth noting that the company identifies Indian accounts through a 10 -digit mobile number through the +91 ISD code. This messaging app also banned more than 20 lakh accounts in October 2021. Meta owned WhatsApp then said that he is taking this action while following the new IT Rule 2021.
After this, 17 lakh 50 thousand accounts were also banned in November. In December, more than 2 million Indian accounts were processed. WhatsApp removes accounts that are doubted from the platform from time to time. The accounts received on which action is taken, shows WhatsApp “Accounts Actioned”. Taking action means that either that account is being banned or the banned account is being restored again.
The new IT rules in India were implemented in May last year. According to these rules, digital platforms with more than 5 million users will have to publish a compliance report every month. The complaints received in this report and all the action taken on them will have to be given.
WhatsApp had earlier emphasized that its platform is with the security of messaging, end to-end encryption on its platform and WhatsApp does not have the facility to see content. To know the behavior of any account, WhatsApp has access to user reports, profile photos, group photos and descriptions. Apart from this, the company uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools so that the platform cannot be used in wrongdoing.
