To register on the website, Aadhaar number has to be entered. After this, an SMS will come on your registered mobile, then you will be able to access the Digilocker website for the first time by putting a one -time password. By the way, you can immediately create a new password or link Digilocker to your Google or Facebook (FB) login.
After signing up, you can upload all your government documents to Digilocker. Currently, this locker has 10 MB of storage, but you can save the Uniform Resource Identifiers of Government Documents Uniform Useful Resource Identifiers (Uris) using Digilocker.
Its purpose is to get rid of the needs of keeping every document together. If your birth certificate and education certificate is present online and you apply for passport, then the passport office can use your Aadhaar number and ask for more information from Digilocker. The advantage will be that you will not have to carry the file of the document while submitting the application.
In the coming time, it may also happen that RTO can send your driving license directly to your digilocker with the help of Aadhaar card. In such a situation, if you have to send your license to an agency for verification, then you will always have a certified online version available.
Digilocker also has an e -signature feature. However, it will be launched later. By storing digital signature and government papers online, the government wants to encourage people to raise government services through internet.
To complete any government work today, you need an identity card and for this it is also necessary to go to the government office. There is hardly any government department, which allows you to mail the copy of your document, it also seems rational to do so in terms of security. But Digilocker will store your document with authenticity and it will also be easy to share it with other departments.
Now many questions are also being raised about the safety of personal information. By the way, the correct steps are taken using https in the main parts of the Digilocker website (using this protocol, the bank makes secure communication between your computer and its server). The question is how safe its backnd is. For one thing, you should be convinced that this online storage hub will have a bad eye of hackers from the country and abroad.
At the moment, Digilocker does not show much benefits. However, in which direction we are moving forward, this project definitely indicates it. Some people are afraid that there is a high risk of misuse due to a place of so many data and believes that a slight mistake in a single document can lead to a bigger problem than before.
