UPI PRISTINE LAWS adjustments August 2025 Prohibit Stability Test Autopay PSP Cupboard Tips NPCI Main Points Within

UPI PRISTINE LAWS and Adjustments 2025: If you also have a habit of checking the balance with UPI several times a day, then be careful now. Since August 1, 2025, new UPI rules have been implemented across the country, which have been specially brought to protect the system from being overloaded and to make transactions more reliable. These guidelines were notified by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in May and all banks, apps and PSPS were given time to implement these changes by 31 July. Let us tell you in detail what changes are going to happen.

UPI Pristine Laws and Adjustments 2025

The biggest change is that now a user can check the balance only 50 times daily on every UPI app. And this request will also have to be done by the user himself, the app will not be able to check the balance by itself. Not only this, the app will now have to prepare such a system that if there is more traffic, this balance checking process can be slow or stop, so that the system does not load much.

Apart from this, whenever you make an UPI payment now, along with successful transactions, your balance will also be showed, which will reduce the need to check separate balance and reduce the burden on the system as well. That is, UPI user experience will now become a little smarter and lighter.

NPCI has made another change, which is now through ‘Listing Account API’, now a user will be able to see the details of its linked bank accounts only 25 times daily from one app. And this request can be done only when the user has selected the bank in the app. Even if you want to try again, the user’s explicit permission will be necessary.

The UPI Autopay system has also changed now. Now no autope transaction will be processed in peak hours (10 AM-1PM and 5 PM-9:30PM). Every autope transaction will now be tried to process once and it will be allowed to re-trim more than 3 times, ie an autope request will not try the system more than four times.

NPCI has made it clear that whatever banks or apps will not follow these rules, strict action will be taken against them, including action such as API blocking, fining or preventing new customers from adding.

How long have the new UPI rules have been implemented?

All these rules have been implemented since 1 August 2025. NPCI gave banks and apps time till 31 July to implement these changes.

Can I not check unlimited bar balance now?

No. Now a maximum of 50 balance check can be requested on every UPI app. These requests should be started only by the user, the app cannot send automatically.

What has been changed about Autopay?

Now Autopay transactions will be processed only in non-peak hours (in addition to 10 AM-1PM and 5 PM-9:30pm), which will reduce load on the system.

Is there a limit when adding a bank account?

Yes, “List Account” API call is also limited to 25 requests/days, that too only when the user himself selects the bank. Users’ approval is also necessary for re-tri.

Is there any penalty for not accepting these rules?

Yes. The NPCI has said that if a bank or app does not accept the rules, then it can be banned from stopping API access to fine and new customers onboarding.
