What will change under the new rules?
Now only the birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation, Birth-death registrar or an authorized government institution will be valid. According to the TOI report, the rule will soon be effective after being published in the official gazette.
The government has also made changes in passport format and security features. Now the residential address of the applicant will be removed from the last page of the passport. Instead, this information will be embedded in a barcode, which the immigration officers will be able to scan. This will reduce the risk of misuse of personal information.
The government has also implemented a color-crossing system in passports, in which white passport will be for government officials, red passports for diplomats (diplomats) and blue passports for ordinary citizens. Apart from this, the requirement of parents’ names on passport has also been abolished. This change will prove to be a relief for single parents or parents living separately.
Apart from this, to make passport service across the country more accessible, the government has announced to increase the number of Publish Place of Job Passport Seva Kendras (Popsks) from 442 to 600 in the next five years. This will make the process of passport application easier and speed up.
