Twitter Fined RS 50 Lakh Through Karnataka Prime Courtroom in Case in Case in Case in Case in Opposition to Government Line Complete Main Points

The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed Twitter’s petition against the central government order. The Center had asked Twitter to block some accounts, tweets and URL, which the company did not consider. The order was challenged in court. The court said that the company’s petition has no basis. While hearing the case, Justice Krishna S.K. Dixit’s single bench imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh on Twitter and directed to deposit the amount of fine within 45 days.

According to PTI report, Justice Dixit dismissed Twitter’s plea, saying that he agrees with the Center’s argument that the government has the power to block tweets and ban the account.

Twitter challenged 10 different orders issued by the central government between 2 February 2021 to 28 February 2022. Twitter earlier claimed that the government had directed him to block 1474 Twitter account, 175 tweets, 256 URLs and a hashtag, but only 39 URL orders were challenged in the court. The court reserved its decision on 21 April in this case, which was pronounced today.

Twitter described the government’s orders against the freedom of arbitrariness and expression. Knowing that there is a provision to impose a sentence of 7 years and fine for not obeying the order of the Center, Twitter did not follow the orders. In its judgment, the court told Twitter that you are a billions of dollars company, no farmer or common man who is not aware of the law.

The central government minister’s response has also come to this decision. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar has said that Twitter’s decision to challenge the government notice to block some accounts in the court was actually part of the ‘fictional story’, which was carried forward by former CEO of the company Jack Dorsi.

Significantly, former Twitter CEO Dorsi had recently claimed that the Indian government had warned the company to close the country and raid the employees for not removing Twitter posts and not banning the Twitter account. Dorsi claimed that the posts and accounts that were pressurized to remove were related to protests against agricultural laws and criticism of the government.

The minister said that the court order makes it clear that all forums will have to follow Indian law.
