Truecaller has introduced a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature that will automatically block all spam calls and provide better protection from spammer. This feature is available only on its Android app, a new ‘Max’ protection has been added for spam calls. It is being introduced as a premium feature and it will be available only to users paying the app. In particular, this new feature has come after less than a month of introducing call recording and AI-powered transcription feature in Trucolor India.

Customers paying on the Truecaller app can go to Settings> Block to search new features. Earlier this setting used to offer two tabs – off and basic to select users. Spam callers are identified when set on off, but they are not blocked and in basic mode automatically blocks calls from numbers that report on which a large scale report Has been done. Now there is a new tab with Max label.

On selecting Max, the app will automatically block all spammers’ calls. This setting also gives a warning that it can block some valid business calls. In a conversation with Tekkrunch, Kunal Dua, president of the search at TruColor, said that the company tested several dozen algorithms in several markets to identify the spam number and used its AI system to implement the feature. The company also said that it has taken the feedback of users to improve the feature and he will continue to do so.

However, there is a warning in this feature that users may remain untouched by some legitimate calls and the company promises to take feedback of users, the company has not disclosed its method to identify spam calls. Users have an option to report calls as spam, but it is not clear whether the Trucaller uses other methods to identify such numbers.

AI-Powered Max Spam Blocking Feature is available only on the Android app of Trucolor, as the iOS collar does not allow the ID apps to track spammer status or block those numbers automatically. However, to access it, users will have to take membership of the premium plan of TruColor. Membership in India is available on a monthly plan of Rs 75 and an annual plan of Rs 529.
