Veer Baal Diwas will empower Indians to take pride of their identity: PM Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed Guru Gobind Singh’s efforts against Aurangzeb’s terrorism and his intentions to change India.
“Aurangzeb and his people wanted to change the religion of Guru Gobin Singh’s children by the force of a sword,” PM said.
PM Modi while speaking at the first ‘Veer Bal Diwas‘ event paid tributes to Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, Guru Gobind Singh’s sons who laid down their lives while defending their faith.
“On the one hand there was terrorism and on the other spiritualism. On one hand there was communal violence while on the other there was liberalism. On one hand there were forces of lakhs while on the other there were just Veer Sahibzaade who did not budge at all,” he said referring to the two martyred children of the Guru.
Paying tributes to the greats for their courage and sacrifice, PM said Veer Baal Diwas will remind us to celebrate our past and inspire us to build our future.
“World’s history is filled with instances of atrocities. Three centuries ago Chamkaur and Sirhind wars were fought, on one side there was Mughal Sultanate blind to communal extremism and on the other there were our Gurus,” PM said.
Sahibzaades are inspiring generations. A country that has such history should be filled with confidence but unfortunately, in the name of history we were taught only certain narratives which leads to an inferiority complex, PM Modi added.
PM said we need to break free from narrow views of past if we want to take India to the heights of success in the future.
Veer Baal Diwas will empower Indians to take pride of their identity in the world, PM Modi added.
