The state arrested three persons and is seeking to rope in a number of BJP leaders into its poachgate FIR on charges that they tried to poach four TRS MLAs into BJP by luring them into its fold with promises of hundreds of crores of cash and big contracts.
It can be recalled, the judge heard the pleas of BJP and the three arrested accused in the case and pronounced his order in his court hall that was packed with lawyers, scribes and political activists too.
The judge in his order said that the GO issued by the state constituting the special investigation team to probe into the issue cannot be sustained legally and accordingly quashed GO thereby disbanding the SIT. The probe done by the SIT too was set aside.
The plea of the BJP with the same prayer was however dismissed because it is a case between the state and the accused and the BJP is a third party and hence its petition is not maintainable.
“Though the BRS government here has withdrawn the general consent for the entry of CBI into the state following its differences with the BJP, that won’t be an impediment for the CBI now because its entry into the state has now been ordered by the high court,” legal sources said.
