Kalam-250 is a high strength carbon composite motor that will push the rocket inside the vacuum in space outside the Earth’s atmosphere. According to the company, the Test of Kalam-2550 was performed on the propulsion test bed of ISRO which is present at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The Test Fire lasted for 85 seconds and it gained the sea level of 186 Kilonuton (KN). But when this thrust will be measured in the air, then 235 kilonutons will be. That is, in Kalam-250, the company has done a vacuum thrust test of 235kn.

This test is considered very important for the progress in India’s space sector. Because it is the first carbon composite motor in the country to have been tested in ISRO, and it is the largest propulsion system designed and manufactured by private sector. Pawan Chandana, a co-founder and CEO of Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, also mentioned the importance of the success of Test fire while talking about the company’s success.
He said that the Test parameters are inside the desired bounds, and this success takes them a step and one step closer to the launch of Vikram-1 rocket. Kalam-250 is a high strength carbon composite rocket motor that uses a solid fuel and high performance ethylene-prophylene-denyerpoller (EPDM) thermal protection system (TPS). Stage-2 has a carbon flax nozzle with which there are accurate electro-concentric actuators. These control the thrust vector of the vehicle. With its help, the rocket access the desired trajectory.
