Restaurant owner shot dead, death in fighting due to delay in swiggy order


The owner of a restaurant in Greater Noida near Delhi was shot dead on Tuesday night. The alleged fighting began with a delay in an order. Three accused have been arrested after an encounter with the police. The person used to run a restaurant inside an apartment complex called Mitra. On Tuesday night, the delivery agent of the online platform Swiggy reached the restaurant to order Chicken Biryani and the entire vegetable. Police said three youths riding on a bike, who say they were roaming near the restaurant, stopped and reached the delivery agent. One of the bikers worked with a second food delivery service and stopped to ask Swiggy agent about the job.

He got into an argument with an employee when the order of Swiggy agent was delayed. Police said that drunk three people also jumped into the fight and allegedly shot in the head of its owner Sunil Aggarwal.
A restaurant employee and other staff members took the man to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Rakesh Nagar, who lives near the restaurant, said, “Employees called me to tell me that his owner had been shot. When I arrived, he was still breathing. I first dial 100 and then called the ambulance. Then we finally took him to the hospital in his car.”

After shooting, the young man escaped from the bike. After scrutinizing the CCTV footage, the police started searching for the accused. On Wednesday morning, the accused were seen in a street near the restaurant. The encounter started and a suspect was shot in the leg. All three were arrested.

The preliminary report suggested the possible involvement of the swiggy agent. Swiggy said in a statement, “What has been reported is very worrying. If such a person was associated with Swiggy, we have reached the concerned authorities to help verify the identity of the person involved in this heinous incident. The online platform said that all his delivery partners are ready to provide delivery after the court case or criminal background.
