The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) last month conducted the Independent Drive Test (IDT) for 13 cities and important transit routes. These include private telecom companies like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel as well as BSNL’s performance. This report states that Reliance Jio is the fastest data network. The download speed of the company’s Internet service in Ahmedabad, Gujarat was 355 (megabits per second) and 283 Mbps in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. However, there have also been shortcomings in the performance of Reliance Jio.
The company’s drop call rate in Una and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh was 0.66 percent and 4G and 5G network in Chikmagaluru in Karnataka was 5.8 percent. This is indicating some decrease in the performance of Reliance Jio in hilly and low density areas. This report of TRAI states that Bharti Airtel’s voice service has been the most reliable. The company has achieved 100 percent call setup success rate (CSSR) in Chennai and Haryana’s Panipat and has a very low drop call rate. However, Bharti Airtel’s voice quality in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh has been deficiencies. Due to network congestion or some other reasons, its setup time has been 12 seconds more than the acceptable levels. Airtel has also had a higher rate in many cities.
The performance of BSNL has been poor in both segments. Its call drop rate in Una has increased to 15 percent. The voice quality of this company has also been poor. BSNL’s data speed has been less than 7 Mbps. With this, the company’s network has been found unfit for more needs of data. BSNL is preparing to start a 5G network soon.
