Reliance Jio Ban Sim Categorical House Supply Upcoming Dot Issues

Reliance Jio has first started to stop the home delivery service of the mobile SIM card. The company has taken this step after the objections of the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). Dot raised questions related to safety on similar service by Airtel and Blinkit, after which Jio has shut down this facility. Let us know about it in detail.

According to the report, JIO wrote a letter to Dot Secretary Neeraj Mittal on 16 April, stating that it is planning to start the delivery of SIM card in customers’ homes from fast-track from April 25. This plan was prepared on the basis of Airtel’s initiative and its objective was to provide fast onboarding process to the users. Airtel partnered with Blinkit to deliver the SIM card within 10 minutes at a service charge of Rs 49. However, Dot intervened and objected to the delivery of SIM before completing the customer verification.

KYC will be completed before delivery

After this, the telecom department issued instructions to all telecom companies that customers should be fully completed before the Aadhaar-based self-KYC before delivering the SIM card. This step was taken to strengthen the security. Following this updated rule, Jio stopped its plan to start express delivery service. The company has not disclosed whether it will reconsider the plan after meeting the needs of DOT.

Let us tell you that Airtel is currently reviewing its service. The company is planning to resume doorstep SIM delivery. The process can take longer due to pre-delivery KYC verification needs. Telecom analysts believe that fast SIM card can help the delivery operator bring new users as they are working to expand 5G service and increase profits. However, they also focus on following security guidelines.
