The central government imposed a fine for data leaks on the Custodian firm of the Railyatri app. In the information given to the Parliament, it has been told that the app was restored after taking necessary security measures. This app is used in booking railway tickets.

Electronics and IT State Minister, Rajeev Chandrasekhar told the Lok Sabha in a written reply that in December last year, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) had taken action against the Rail Yatri app after the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) after the information given by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-in. He said, “According to the information given by IRCTC, in December last year, the facility of ticket booking was stopped on this app after receiving information about the leak of data on the railway passage app in December last year and its Custodian firm was fined. The app was restored after taking necessary security measures.”

Chandrashekhar said that in the last three years, data leaks related to government organizations are 10, 5 and 7 respectively. “According to information track by CERT-in, there have been a total of 47 cases of data leaks and 142 cases of data violations in the last five calendar years,” he said. Last year, CERT-in issued instructions related to the report of CERT-in within six hours of finding out such cases under the law.

IRCTC may soon start a voice-based e-ticketing feature. By speaking, tickets can be booked. It is trialing its Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform ‘Ask Disha’. With this, customers will be able to book tickets by giving voice commands. Along with this, IRCTC has also planned to increase the online ticketing capacity per day. Ask Disha has been developed in association with Bangalore’s Startup Corover. Through this platform, customers can book tickets with an OTP verification log and seek other assistance. In this, users do not need the log-in and password of IRCTC. Passengers will be able to book tickets using text or voice commands through chatbot ask disha 2.0. On this, the status of cancellation of tickets and canceled tickets will also be known.
