This Taiwan company will soon launch an iPhone assembling plant in Karnataka. The manufacturing plant will have an annual assembling of about two crore smartphones. Karnataka plans to become a large manufacturing hub. Foxconn is the first electronics manufacturer to acquire such an incentive of such a huge amount. Under the ESDM policy, the Government of Karnataka gives various incentives. These include a 25 percent subsidy on capital investment, manufacturing plant and 20 percent subsidy on machinery as well as stamp duty, registration charges and complete remuneration of land conversion fees.
Foxconn has also prepared to set up manufacturing units near Chennai in Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu, Telangana. Last year, Foxconn made an investment of about Rs 1,200 crore in its subsidiary in India. The recently launched Apple’s affordable iPhone 16E has started assembling in India. It will replace the iPhone SE introduced about three years ago. Apple has increased its manufacturing in the last few years in the country.
Along with the sale of iPhone 16E being assembled in the country, some countries will also be exported to some countries. Earlier, the company’s iPhone 16 series is also being assembled in the country. Apple began to make the professional models of iPhone for the first time in the country with the iPhone 16 series. Earlier, the company’s professional models were assembled in China. The company’s FoxConn is the largest contract manufacturer. Some other contract manufacturing companies also assembling iPhone and other devices of the company. India’s Tata Electronics is also included. Apple plans to shift some part of its manufacturing of the iPhone in China to India.
