Indus supports Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and other regional languages. It gets a tole button on the top, through which users can change languages. The togle not only changes the language of content on the interface but also changes the name of the app, app trailer and video as well as the app description. PhonePe said that the translation has been done by the company.
In addition, platforms allow users to search in any of 12 regional languages to see search results in those languages. PhonePe founder and CEO Sameer Nigam said that transliteration in regional languages will also get results. Android smartphone users can download and install the app from here.
The company said, there were 200,000 apps at the launch of Indus Appstore. Some major apps include Flipkart, Disney+ Hotstar, Mantra, Jomato, Swiggy, Snapchat and more. This number also includes several thousand games. The platform has three major gaming categories which are casual gaming, heavy gaming and real money gaming (RMG).
The app listing on the developer platform will be free for the first year but after that, the annual fee will be levied. PhonePe also said that if a separate payment gateway is used, no platform fee or commission will be charged for in-app payment from marketplace developers. Conversely, Apple and Google take 15 percent to 25 percent commission for this and other payment service does not allow the integration of the service.
In addition, platforms allow users to use emails to do mobile number and OTP-based login instead of using emails. For app recommendation, the developer platform uses Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based algorithms and uses location data. There are some smart features such as smart updates that will allow to update rapidly to the latest version.
The corporation also said that the app developers will have the option to show advertisements in their app or not. Those who join it will be able to earn commission from generated ad revonue.
