The report by market research firm Gartner said that PC demand in both consumer and enterprise segment has reduced the PC demand in both consumer and enterprise segment. Gartner’s analyst Mikako Kitagawa said, “PC has become a major problem due to weak demand of PC in both consumer and enterprise segment with the removal of interruptions in the supply chain.” Many consumers had bought new personal computers in the last two years and due to this demand in this segment is weak. Companies have reduced the expenditure on IT due to tension between some countries and weakening of economic conditions and their priority does not include PC.
Europe, Middle East and EMEA (EMEA) have decreased by 26.4 percent in the September quarter. This is the third consecutive quarter of sales in this region. The weakening of economic conditions in Europe and the war between Ukraine and Russia is on demand. Gartner says that in the first two quarter of this year, many PC vendors closed their business in Russia. It has a negative impact on the total shipments and is visible on the basis of year-on-year basis. PC sales in Asia Pacific have decreased by 16.6 percent on a year-on-year basis. The major reason for this is lockdown due to epidemic in many cities of China. This has slowed down the business of companies and has reduced the demand of personal computers in consumer, government and enterprise segments.
In terms of total PC shipments, Dell stood first in the PC market. Its market share was 26.8 percent. This was followed by HP (about 23.2 percent), Apple (16 percent) and Lenovo (about 15.8 percent). Dell’s laptop shipments have decreased in all regions except Japan. However, its desktop shipments in all regions except Asia Pacific have increased on a year-on-year basis.
