Half of the frozen picture of Pangong Tso Lake, located in Ladakh, India, has come to light. The special thing is that this photo is taken from 400 kilometers above the earth. It has been captured from the International Space Station (ISS), which is a joint project of many countries including the US and keeps on circling our earth. A team of Astronauts is always present on ISS and stays there and fulfills the space missions. Whenever the ISS passes over a country, it takes memorable photographs there, which the American space agency shares on its social media handle.

Pangong Lake is one of the world’s highest lakes. Its elevation is 4,225 meters above sea level. According to reports, the lake extends to the borders of India and China. Despite being at such a height, it is not a fresh water, but a saltwater lake. In winter, the lake is fully freezed and marathon is held on it.

The specialty of this lake is that it changes its color according to the season. Describing the picture, NASA Earth wrote that ‘a picture taken from the International Space Station of Pangong Lake. The water of the lake is looking green in the picture, while the ice is also seen in every color.

According to NASA, this image was captured by any of the crew of Expedition 70. It is reported that the image was taken from Nikon D5 digital camera on 25 January 2024. However, social media users are liking the picture. People are adding it to the beauty of winter. Although the picture is a few months old, it can be assumed that the lake will no longer be frozen.
