The notifications have been processed and managed by the application processor (AP) so far in Put on OS. This causes more power of the device to show the notifications. On the other hand, many types of low battery consumed tasks such as step counting, and heart rate monitoring etc. are handled by Microcontroller Unit (MCU) separately. According to The Verge’s report, Google will now allow manufacturers to shift to the notification system, MCU. After which the battery consumed in showing notifications will be reduced to a great extent.
The report says that this function is specially designed for OnePlus Supervise 2. But now it will also be expanded for other smartwaches. Bjorn Kilburn, Voice President of Google’s Wearos, told the publication that other companies would also be able to use this capacity. This means that showing notifications, decishes them, or replying to them immediately, all these works will be handled by MCU.
However, users may not see some difference between the notifications about this change. But with the increase in battery life, they will definitely see the difference. OnePlus Supervise 2 has been introduced in MWC 2025. OnePlus Supervise 2 has a 1.43 -inch AMOLED display. It has Snapdragon W5 chipset. It is equipped with 500mAh battery and comes with 7.5W charging. Its price is Rs 24,999. SAIL will start from March 4.
