Ola Electrical Will Get Bulky Jolt, Gross Sales Subseide Greater Than 45 % in June

Ola Electric, one of the major companies in the electric two-wheeler market, has been having difficulties for the last few months. The company is facing challenges ranging from declining sales to regulatory scrutiny. Last month, Ola Electrical has sales of 20,190 units. This is a decline of more than 45 percent on a year-on-year basis.

According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), the monthly cells of Ola Electric have increased by 9.13 percent. In May, the company sold 18,501 units. Recently, Ola Electric started delivery to customers after a few months delay of their first electric motorcycle X. Complaints are being received from customers about this electric motorcycle. In a video circulated on social media, a customer of Roadster X+ showed the problem about charging. This customer had told that when he contacted the customer support of the company, he had advised him to go to the nearby Ola service center but there was no solution to this problem there either.

All variants of this electric motorcycle of Ola Electric have a 7 kW motor. Roadster X has been brought to three variants – 2.5 kwh, 3.5 kwh and 4.5 kwh. The range of 2.5 khh variants of this electric motorcycle is about 140 kilometers, 3.5 kwh about 196 km and 4.5 kwh variants of about 252 km. The Roadster X has a 4.3 inch LCD instrument panel which has features like Bluetooth connectivity, turn-turn navigation, reverse mode and cruise control. In this segment, Ola Electric competes with electric two-wheeler companies like Ultraviolette.

Recently, Ola Electric stores in Maharashtra were investigated by the state government due to alleged disturbances about trade certificates. 146 stores were inspected in the company’s state. Of these, about 121 stores were reportedly being run without a trade certificate. 75 of these stores were closed by the state government. According to Rule 33 of the Central Motor Vehicle Act and Central Motor Vehicles, vehicles manufactures and distributors have to take a business certificate for registration of vehicles.
