To get a voice calling facility, users have to download the version of WhatsApp on their Jio Telephone and other KaiOS devices 2.2110.41. Once activated, users can call WhatsApp in any of their chat threads by visiting Choices> Resonance Name. On other feature phones including Jio Telephone, users can also attend WhatsApp voice calls as they attend other calls. However, it is important to note that for calling through the instant messaging app, the phone must have Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection.
WhatsApp COO Matt Idema said in a statement, “Bringing WhatsApp voice calls into kaios enabled devices helps us to connect with the world privately through a service that is simple, reliable and accessible to all – whether they are using any kind of mobile device.”
WhatsApp started on Jio Telephone in September 2018 before being released on other Kaios phones. However, it came to other models including Nokia 8110 4G in 2019.
Whatsapp comes preloaded on most Kaios phones since its release. This app has been claimed to be the top Kaios Non-System App with the most monthly active users worldwide. However, WhatsApp has not stated any official number to support the claim.
Kaios Technologies CEO Sebastian Codeville said, “With WhatsApp, we are taking another important step towards the goal of making all the necessary, useful services accessible, including a low -serving community, seniors who want ordinary devices and people using Kaios devices as a collaborative phone. You can call anywhere in an affordable way. “
WhatsApp introduced its voice calling feature on the smartphone in February 2015. However, WhatsApp got the ability to make WhatsApp voice calls for desktop users through Home Windows and Mac Apps in March this year itself.
