Nasa unused underwater map unearths just about 100000 mysterious mountains underneath the sea

If you think that only animals, sand and sea plants remain in sea water, then this new discovery will surprise you. There are more than 1 lakh high rocks hidden under the sea which have not come out yet. This new discovery of NASA is quite shocking. Scientists have prepared a high resolution map of the ocean floor which shows that there are thousands of rocks below the sea. And surprisingly, these rocks that have never come in records before now. So where did these rocks come from? Are they going to appear outside by ripping the sea? Let’s know what NASA says.

David Sandwell has contributed to this discovery with the Scripts Institution of Oceanography, with which he also contributed the contribution of Advanced Satellite Observation (by the use of). For this, the Swot Mission was launched in December 2022. Which played an important role in collecting important data that makes this effort of mapping possible. Actually the sea bottom is also done by the ships of the sea floor, which takes a lot of time, fuel and cost. In Sonar Mapping, only a small part of the sea level can be mapped. But satellites like SWOT cover 90 percent of the Earth in every 21 days. Although they are unable to bring details like Sonar Mapping, but a large part can be done rapidly.

C-floor mapping is done so that the economic opportunities under water can be availed. Rare minerals can be present here which can raise the world’s economy elevated. Through this, sea routes can be optimized, or any danger can be identified.

The secret of hidden rocks of the sea
Under sea water hidden rocks are called seamounts. They are also born from the bottom of the floor of the sea but do not come out by bursting the surface. Talking about the technology before this, if the height of these rocks was less than 3,300 feet, then it was difficult to identify. But now with the help of satellite mapping, it has become very easy to identify them.

Scientists focus on gravity bumps for this. The data that comes out explains their status. On the basis of this data, it has been revealed that the number of mountains below the sea has now increased from 44 thousand to 1 lakh. This technique depends on gravity, not on camera. Since the mass of the sea mountains and the bottomless hills (LUMP) is more than the surrounding sea level, they pull a little more on the sea above. This stretch or lift makes small waves on the surface of water, which is sometimes a few centimeters high. SWOT satellite detects these fine changes and converts them into detailed maps that outline the things below.

These bottomless hills are the highest amounts of lands on earth that cover about 70% of the sea level. Under the water, these hills make slopes where the currents slow down and leave the nutrients in the meantime. Rich in nutrients, these areas become a place to gather for plants, fish and deep sea corals. Even in the dark parts of the sea, these structures act as magnets for life.
