NASA Parker Sun Probe gears up for epic solar flyby on Christmas Eve

NASA is going to create history this Christmas. The space agency will set a new record in its Sun mission when its Parker Sun Probe will reach the closest to the Sun. This will be the first time that a man-made spacecraft will be successful in reaching so close to our star. It will be at a distance of only 60 lakh 10 thousand kilometers from the sun. Its speed will be 6 lakh 90 thousand kilometers per hour. Parker Sun Probe will also break its own old record with this speed and distance. Let us know what is the meaning of Parker Sun Probe reaching so close to the Sun.

NASA’s Christmas is going to be even happier this year! For the first time, the space agency is going to send its Parker Sun Probe so close to the sun. Parker Solar Probe is a space instrument the size of a small car. This will be the first man-made probe to reach so close to the Sun. According to Dimension.com, on December 24, Parker Solar Probe will fly through particles of plasma ejected from the Sun and will also pass through a part of a solar storm. It would be like diving under a breaking wave in the ocean!

Last October, the Sun reached the stormiest part of its 11 year cycle (11 week cycle). This means that Parker Sun Probe will have to face powerful solar storms during its journey. These solar flares will explode one after the other, giving scientists a better chance to understand the processes going on above the Sun.

“We are preparing to make history,” project scientist Nour Rawafi said during a Dec. 10 Annual Meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) event. Parker Solar Probe will reveal a new reality about our star before our eyes. It will take us decades to analyze the data it will send.

Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018. It has revealed many secrets about the Sun so far. The most prominent among them is that its weak outer atmosphere, called the corona, becomes hundreds of times hotter the farther it moves from the Sun’s surface. NASA seems very excited about this solar mission. Some shocking revelations about the Sun may come from here in the coming times.
