Mpassport app launched for soon for police verification of passport

The problem of delay in police verification to get the passport required to go abroad may soon be overcome. The central government has launched the MPASSPORT Police App on Friday with the objective of accelerating the process of police verification for issuing passports.

Home Minister Amit Shah gave 350 tablets to the Special Branch officials of Delhi Police on Thursday. These devices will speed up the entire process of police verification and it will become paperless. A press release issued by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) of the capital under the Ministry of External Affairs states that using these tablets for verification will take it five days instead of 15 days. This will reduce the duration of issuing passport to 10 days. RPO said in a tweet that they are committed to providing efficient service. The duration of verification from the MPASSPORT police app will be reduced to five days.

Delhi Police had said in a tweet, “Home Minister Amit Shah has provided 350 mobile tablets to the Special Branch of Delhi Police. These tablets will make the verification paperless and digital of the passport application and it will take five days.” In a tweet, Shah said in a tweet, “Passport mobile application has been launched for early verification of passport. Digital verification will save time and transparency will bring transparency in police investigation. This is an important step towards mission of smart policing.”

The central government is considering not allowing any such information to upload on social media which it considers false. This is included in the draft of the new IT rules released last month. This may include this in measures to rein in large tech companies by the government. According to the report of the Reuters, when an agency authorized to investigate the facts by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) (PIB) or a department or any of its departments, an agency will be banned under draft when an agency is called ‘fake’ or ‘false’. On such information, social media platforms or other online intermediates will have to make appropriate efforts so that users can be prevented from uploading, changing or publishing it.
