More than 18 lakh accounts in India were banned by WhatsApp, know the reason

WhatsApp has taken action after complaints received from Indian users and has banned more than 1.85 million (18 lakh) accounts in March this year. According to IT Rules 2021, WhatsApp has released its tenth user Safety Monthly Report. The company has taken action on some accounts for violating the terms of Indian laws or WhatsApp service. In its report, WhatsApp has told about this action.

The report shows that in March, users sent a total of 597 complaints to WhatsApp. Of these, 112 complaints were related to accounting support. An account ban was appealed through 407 complaints. 37 complaints were related to product support and 13 safety. 28 complaints were about other support. Out of these, 74 of these were taken action. They all belonged to the ban. One thing should be kept in mind here that action means banning an account or restoring the banned account.

The Spokesperson of the WhatsApp said that we are an industry leader in preventing misuse among end-to-end messaging services. For many years, we have invested in artificial intelligence and other techniques, so that the safety of users on the platform remains. WhatsApp spokesperson said that we have published our report for the month of March as per IT Rule 2021. More than 1.8 million accounts are banned. Significantly, in February, WhatsApp had banned more than 1.4 million (14 lakh) Indian accounts in February.

WhatsApp says that detecting misconduct using its own automatic tool is operated in three phases of lifestyle of the account: during registration, during messaging, and in negative feedback response, which it receives as a user report and block. The instant messaging platform says that a team of analysts helps these functions evaluate high levels of cases and improve the effectiveness over time. To report any complaint to WhatsApp, users can e-mail on wa@help.whatsapp.com or report suspicious accounts using buttons available in the app.
