The outage began on the evening of 10 July (Indian time) and the first US and UK users complained about it on a large scale. But in a few hours this outage spread to other countries as well. Hundreds of users have reported on platforms like Downdetector and complaints are still on.
The dowdatector also shows that more problem is coming in outlook, while some percentage users are also struggling with problems in login and server connections.
Microsoft has also listed this issue on its Carrier Condition Dashboard. It is said here that this problem is related to their Mailbox Authentication System. According to the company, the mail service of users is being blocked due to internal technical failure. Microsoft’s team is currently engaged in trubbleshooting and is trying to normalize Outlook’s service soon. However, no timeline has been shared so far.
Many users have also shared screenshots on X (Twitter) complaining about outage. Some feel that their profiles have been deactivated, while the system is actually a problem in the backnd. No such complaint has been filed in India and till the time of writing the news, Outlook service was doing normal work in the country.

If you are also outlook users and are not able to access email, do not panic. The company says that they will fix this problem as soon as possible. Till then users have been advised to try alternative email apps or web versions, or keep checking updates on the Microsoft 365 status page.
