A new research has come to light about the period of sleep, which says that a slight increase during the sleep period can affect the mental health. It can increase the ability of knowledge in youth. Research included 3222 teenagers whose age was between 9 years and 14 years. It was found that the teenagers who were getting a little more sleep increased their brain capacity. The average duration of sleep was kept here 7 hours and 10 minutes, but the teenagers who were getting only 15 minutes more than this, ie 7 hours 25 minutes were sleeping, they found better results in things, solutions and focus on the problem, etc. That is, reading, problem solving and focus were found more among these teenagers.
According to Barbara Sahakian, a clinical neurocycaist at Cambridge University, “Although the difference in the amount of sleep received by each group was relatively low, which was just a fourth hour (15 minutes) difference between the best and worst gold, we could see the difference in their well presentation in the structure and activity of the brain.”
Researchers also assessed the heart rate of participants, which found that Group-3 had the lowest heart rate in sleep stages and the highest in Group-1. Low heart rate is usually a sign of better health, while higher heart rate is often accompanied by the quality of poor sleep such as restless sleep, frequent waking up and excessive sleep during the day.
