Repeated use of antibiotic causes bacteria, viruses, viruses, which stops the effect of medicines after some time. These are called antibiotic-recommendations infections. That is, such infections on which antibiotics will no longer be affected.
The Lancet has published a study related to it, which says the deaths due to antibiotic rasstans are continuously increasing. This increase is going to intensify in the coming decades. According to Christopher JL Murray, the senior writer of the study, and director of Institute for Health Matrix and Evolution, Washington University, Washington University,, ‘This is a major problem, and it will remain the same’.
Researchers are constantly warning that antibiotic rasistance is also making simple infections fatal. It takes a lot of time to treat it after the rasistance is born. The study scrutinized 52 crore data points from 204 countries which included records of insurance claim, death certificate, hospital discharge etc. After analysis, it was found that between 1990 and 2021, about 10 million deaths occurred due to antimicrobial rasistance (AMR). Researchers have speculated that the rate of deaths caused by antimicrobial rasistance will continue to increase.
Another shocking thing is said here. Study states that children and the elderly are seeing absolutely opposite patterns in the deaths caused by antimicrobial rasistance. The rate of AMR deaths of children under 5 years of age has reduced by 50% between 1990 and 2021, while this rate has increased by 80 percent for the elders of 70 years or above. This pattern is estimated to continue further, so the elderly are going to be more threatened by antibiotic rasistance.
Study demands that antibiotic rasistance needs to make big efforts to win. First of all, try to prevent infection, people should be made aware of antibiotic rasstones so that antibiotic is not used even in infections like coughs and colds. Rather, efforts should be made to cure infection in simple treatment like salt water gargle, or medicinal decoction etc.
