According to the Global handset model sales tracker of market research firm Counterpoint, the iPhone 16 has been the best selling smartphone in the first quarter of this year. This is a return to the top rank of sales in the first quarter after two years of the standard variant of the iPhone. The iPhone 16 has strong sales in Japan, Middle-East and Africa. The iPhone 16 Professional Max and iPhone 16 Professional are second and third in the list of top 10 best selling smartphones. The iPhone 16 professional models have about half of the total cells of the iPhone in the third consecutive quarter for Apple. Counterpoint has stated that iPhone 16E has been ranked sixth and iPhone 16 Plus is ranked 10th in this list.
However, the cells of the iPhone 16 Professional in China have been affected. The reason for this is the subsidy by the Chinese government to devices less than CNY 6,000 (about 71,320 rupees). Apart from this, Apple is getting a tough competition from smartphone companies like Huawei of China. South Korea’s smartphone maker Samsung has a low model in this list than the same period last year. However, Samsung’s total stake in the international sales of the top 10 smartphones remains intact. The company’s low -price smartphone models have increased contribution to sales.
Samsung’s Galaxy A16 5G has got fifth in this list, Galaxy A06 sixth, Galaxy S25 Extremely got seventh place and Galaxy A55 5G got ninth place. The list of top 10 smartphones also includes the Redmi 14C of Xiaomi of China. This smartphone of Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has got the eighth rank.
