Starting day two on 31, Robinson wasted no time in stamping his authority on the game, surpassing his previous Test best of 42 with a series of masterful strokes.

Robinson got to his fifty off 81 balls with a boundary off Ravindra Jadeja. With confidence and precision, Robinson executed a flawless sweep over square leg, a shot that not only brought the crowd to its feet but also marked his half-century in style. Earlier in his innings, Robinson had already set the tone against Akash Deep, taking the bowler for three boundaries in a single over.

Robinson’s aggressive approach paid dividends, first clearing point with a powerful shot, followed by two more boundaries driven and pulled with sheer force. Each stroke was a statement of intent, underscoring Robinson’s skill and determination. As he raised his bat in delight, acknowledging the applause from the stands, it was clear that this was a special moment for Robinson.

Earlier, Akash Deep made a memorable debut by dismantling England’s top order in the opening session of Day 1, granting India an early advantage. The spin tandem of Ashwin and Jadeja then swiftly struck, reinforcing India’s control just before Lunch. England stumbled to 112/5, but Root and Foakes anchored the innings with a gritty partnership post-Lunch, marking the series’ first session without a wicket loss.

Their stand surpassed 100 runs, and though they picked up pace after tea, Siraj’s aggressive bowling removed Foakes and Hartley, shifting momentum in India’s favor once again. However, Root scored his first hundred of the series and then shared a 102-run stand with Robinson for the 8th wicket to take England past the 350-run mark on Day 2 morning.
