One thing to keep in mind that it is not necessary that the steps we suggested will apply to every phone. This will depend on the manifactcher of your device and the version of Android.
micro SD card
You must first decide about the microSD card. If your old phone has a microSD card, then you can also use it in your new phone. By doing this, most data such as photos and videos will easily migrate.
If your new phone does not have a microSD card slot, or for some reason you do not want to use your old card, then you should format your SD card and delete all the data. However, make a backup of all your photos and videos before that.
1. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable. If you have Mac, first install the Android Document Switch application on it.
2. Open My PC on your PC or Finder on your Mac.
3. From here, go to SD card and copy all the files and save it on your computer.
4. Once all the data is copied, you can remove your phone from the computer.
Now you can format your memory card.
1. Go to settings on your phone and choose storage.
2. Scroll downwards and tap on Erase SD Card. After this you will get a warning message in which you will have to lose all your data by doing so.
3. After this, tap on the Erase SD Card button to move forward. If your SD card is secure from the password, then you will need to enter the PIN to move forward.
But some people can also recover your files with the format SD card, and the easy way to deal with this problem is “layering”. Put some more data in your format card, then delete it, and repeat this process two or three times. By doing this, your original data will disappear forever.
For example, if you have formatted your 2 GB Microsadi card, connect it to your computer again. Copy about 2 GB files on it. And delete this file immediately. Repeat this process two to three times. It will not take you more than 10 minutes to do this, and you can easily sell your card.
How to backup data
First of all, make sure that you do not lose your contacts and photos. A good thing with Android is that you need Google account to setup the phone, and with it your device starts becoming backup. Follow this process to ensure that it is happening or not.
1. Go to the settings on your phone. Select backup and reset there.
2. You will be able to see the option of Again Up My Knowledge. Make sure it is tick.
3. Then go back to the previous page. Scroll down and reach the account option and then tap on Google.
4. You will be able to see your Google account which was used to set up the phone. There will also be a green sink symbol next to it. Now tap on the account.
5. Ensure that all options are selected. After this, calendar, contacts, emails and photos through your Google account will be backup on Google+ automatically.
6. By the way, not all versions of Android are automatically backup. We checked the 2011 Samsung Galaxy Be Aware model but did not have this option. At the same time, this is the option in Moto E launched last year. If your phone does not have this feature, then you have to prepare backup on your computer through USB.
7. By connecting the phone to the PC via USB cable, backup the rest of the media files on your computer. By following the instructions given in the SD card section, you can backup the files on your computer.
Under this option, the application data of many of your apps will also be backup. For this backup, your apps need to be registered with Android operating system, it is also possible that many of your apps do not support this feature. We would suggest you to manually backup the application data of your favorite apps.
Delete everything
Now that you have backup all the data, you can feel free to delete the data from your phone. You can delete data by following further suggestions.
First of all, follow the SD card completely by following the tips suggested above. If you want to keep using that SD card in future also, then keep it safe.
You can also delete everything from your phone through the factory reset, but some people can also recover deleted data. If you want to make sure that no one can recover deleted data, then you should enable hardware encryption. Most people can start with point 1 and 2 and start directly from the third point.
1. Go to settings. Choose security and tap on an encrypt phone. This process takes more time, so you connect your phone to the charger.
2. Tap the encrypt phone once again. Some people have found that this process does not start at once. In such a situation, you have to try a few more times.
This process takes about 1 hour, so you will have to wait by keeping your phone in charge. Once this happens, you reset the phone.
3. Go to Settings and choose Spare & Reset. Then choose the factory data reset. Tick the Erase Telephone Knowledge box in the next screen. In some phones you can also remove data from memory card, so read the instructions written carefully before tapping a button.
4. This will be followed by a warning (warning) screen. To move forward, tap on the reset phone.
5. This process may take some time. After this, your phone will reboot and reach the position when you bought it. You will get instructions to choose the language and sign in once again.
Congratulations, you have deleted all the data from your Android phone.
Restore your files on another phone
If you have fully followed the above suggestions during backup, then you can get old data very easily. If you use your old microSD card in the new phone too, then movies, music and photos will be transferred easily.
When you take a new Android phone, you should sign in from the same Google account, so that you get old contacts. For the rest of the data, you can copy the backup on your computer through a USB cable. For this, the above suggestions have to be followed.
Even if you are switching to an iOS device, you can get a backup of contacts and calendar by syncing your Google account. Backup media files can be transferred through iTunes.
