What is Direct-to-Cell (D2M) technology?
D2M is an absolutely new broadcasting technology, with the help of which OTT, Live TV, Video, Audio and Text messages can be sent directly to mobile phones without Wi-Fi or Internet. The company says that it will also strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and ‘Make in India’ and ‘Design in India’ campaigns.
HMD is working with whom?
HMD has joined hands with separete flow applied Sciences (which is incubated from IIT Kanpur) and other D2M partners in this mission. Apart from this, local chipsets and technology created by Tejas Networks are also being used, which has successfully tested this technology on India’s networks in the last few years.
Ravi Kunwar (VP and CEO, HMD India and Apac) said on the occasion, “HMD has always been ahead in innovation. D2M platforms are excited to give users better experience.”
At the same time, Sumit Nindrajog said, “D2M technology can change the method of content delivery and support of companies like HMD will help spread it to the whole country.”
Pollen Naik (Co-Founder, Saankhya Labs and EVP, Tejas Networks) said on the occasion that the company has developed SL-3000 chipset and core network platforms, so that AIDS, educational content and emergency alerts can be reached directly to users.
The focus of HMD is now on providing D2M phones in the Indian market after mass trials. Soon users will be able to buy such smartphones, feature phones and tablets at a lower price, in which entertainment and necessary information will be available from direct TV broadcast without internet.
