Google is going to close its payment app Google Pay. You heard right, the company in America is going to close Google Pay. The company has announced that the app services will be closed on 4 June 2024 in the US. Google is bringing its payment services on the same platform. For which the tech giant is focusing on Google Pockets. App services in Singapore, India have been said to continue.

The Google Pay Payment app will be closed in the US from 4 June 2024. Google has given information about this through a blog post. The company says that it is going to make its payment services easier. These payment services will be available at one place in which Google Pockets will be used. Google wallet is becoming more popular among users than Google Pay and its user base is five times higher than Google inside 180 countries.

However, the GPAY Payment App will continue to run in India and Singapore. At the same time, even after the app has been closed in America, the company is saying that some of its services continue. Users will be able to use some of its important functions like payment management, in-store payment but it will be done only through Google Wallet. Peer to Peer (P2P) payments, the app can not be able to make balance management directly, and receiving offers and deals on the app.

Google Pockets is now going to be the main focus of the company. Google wallet will be the primary app for secure payments of digital items like store payments, tap and pay, transit cards, driver license, state ID etc.

What will happen to the balance in Google Pay?
For users who have balance in Google Pay, there will be an option to transfer their funds to a bank account. This can be done through Google Pay website even after 4 June 2024. The Google Pockets started in 2011 by the company. After that there were many changes in it. In 2015, Android Pay came, then in 2018 it was merged with Google Pay. Now Google Wallet is becoming more popular. Apart from payment, it is also being used in many more functions, including transport pass, state ID, driver license, virtual car.
