Google has recalled its Pixel 4A handset in Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACC) also issued an official notice regarding Pixel 4A recall, which also reported that Google recently issued an update, it reduces the risk of overheating of battery in impacted devices. However, while releasing this update, Google did not mention overheating or any problem.
After this update, users came to know that their phone is being discharged in a few minutes. Google also removed the old software version from its website after this update, which was an unusual step for the company. According to users, the firmware reduced the battery life to a great extent, making it almost difficult to use the phone. In many cases, the phone was allegedly running a few minutes after allegedly removed from charging.
Even though Google did not directly mention in its update kenots that the update has been released due to overheating or battery related news and also that it is limiting the battery life and charging output of Pixel 4A, but the ACCC recal notice shows the relationship between the two incidents.
The notice of ACC states that if a user has installed this update, he should contact Google’s support team. Australia affected users can apply for compensation from Google. Google has clarified that not all Pixel 4A devices are affected.
