Ask photo feature will be available in Google Pictures
In a blog post, the company announced the new Google Pictures feature. Ask Photos is an experimental feature that is part of Google Labs. It is currently being shipped in a limited release in the US with access only to select users. Ask Photos will be available as a separate interface within the Google Pictures app. Users can access it by tapping on the search icon present at the bottom right of the app. In a full-screen interface, users can now reach out to Gemini and ask it to show a specific photo. Users can send queries in spoken language.
For example, users can ask “Show me my pictures at Shaurya’s birthday party” and Gemini will understand and contextualize the information to show the photos. Apart from this, users can also ask Gemini to suggest photos to share on social media apps. Google has emphasized that it is focusing on users’ privacy and data security. The company claimed that users’ data will not be used for ads in Google Photos. To improve the feature, users can review the search queries made in Ask Photos. However, the company claims that this will happen only after disconnecting the users’ account.
Apart from this, the tech giant said that the answers given by Ask Photos such as your photos and videos etc. are not reviewed by humans. Apart from this, Google Pictures is also improving the search experience of the platform for all users. The new Descriptive Query feature will allow users to type a search query in simple sentences to add more information about what they’re searching for. This feature is available in English language for all users on Android and iOS.
